Air Chief Marshal BS Dhanoa flies MiG 21 with Abhinandan in Pathankot

Wing Commander Abhinandan Varthaman, the IAF pilot who became the face of a tense military confrontation between India and Pakistan in February, on Monday flew a sortie with Air Chief Marshal B S Dhanoa on a MiG 21 jet here.

The 30-minute sortie came nearly six months after Varthaman sustained injuries while ejecting from a MiG 21 Bison during an aerial combat between India and Pakistan on February 27.

Varthaman returned to the fighter cockpit around two weeks ago after IAF’s Bengaluru-based Institute of Aerospace Medicine gave him the go-ahead to fly again following a thorough medical evaluation.

“It was an honour for me to fly with him,” the IAF chief, who is set to retire on September 30, said after the sortie on the MiG 21 trainer aircraft.

The 36-year-old IAF pilot was captured by the Pakistani Army on February 27 after his MiG-21 Bison jet was shot down in a dogfight with Pakistani jets during aerial combat.

Before his jet was hit, he downed an F-16 fighter of Pakistan.

Varthaman was released on the night of March 1 by Pakistan. He was taken off flying duties because of his injuries.

The IAF chief said he, too, ejected from a combat jet in 1988 and had to wait for nine months to return to the fighter cockpit. Read Complete Article

The actor is well known for his peculiar fashion style and it seems like his childhood was no different. Ranveer, on Thursday, pinned a picture of his younger self clad in a red jumpsuit with a hood where he is seen signaling a thumbs-up gesture.

Little Ranveer even had a picture of his on the wall behind him. Actor Varun Dhawan was quick to comment, “Ballers”.

Rapper Kaambhaari, who worked with Ranveer on his music label, also commented on the picture and wrote, “Cutie” along with a heart emoticon.

The ‘Padmaavat’ actor earlier treated his fans with a glimpse of his childhood when he posted an old picture with his elder sister on Raksha Bandhan.

Not only has he won over hearts with his looks, but his talent too. His February release ‘Gully Boy‘ proved his prowess not only as an actor but also as a rapper and since then he feels that Hindustani rap has arrived in the country.

“The time of Hindustani rap/hip hop has come and this is the much-needed explosion in the music scene of India. These are exciting times for original music in India and rap/hip-hop is a huge refresher. Hindustani rap/hip hop is no longer an underground music scene. Budget 2019: Homebuyers seek Rs 10,000-cr fund to complete stalled projects

The government in the upcoming budget should create a Rs 10,000-crore fund to complete stalled real estate projects across the country and provide relief to over 500,000 people who have booked properties, according to home buyers’ body FPCE. Budget2019

In its budget recommendation to the finance minister, Forum For People’s Collective Efforts (FPCE), earlier knows as Fight for RERA, also demanded that home buyers should be categorised as primary secured creditors.

“You are aware there are over five lakh home buyers whose hard earned life savings are stuck in different real estate projects across the country due to indefinite delay and fund diversion by builders,” FPCE President Abhay Upadhyay said and pitched for the creation of a stress fund to end the mental and financial stress of these home buyers.

The memorandum further noted that “despite RERA (realty law), most of the ongoing projects have not been completed. It is time now to end this problem by creating a stress fund’ to the tune of at least Rs 10,000 crore to complete stuck real estate projects on pan India basis.”

Please don’t use bad words: Pak players appeal public after loss to India

Pakistan pacer Mohammad Amir pleaded with fans to not use “bad words” for players, while senior all-rounder Shoaib Malik called for families to be kept out of criticism that has been pouring in after their World Cup loss to arch-rivals India here.

Pakistani players have been ridiculed on social media and lambasted by former cricketers after the 89-run defeat to India in the marquee World Cup clash here on Sunday.

Sarfaraz Ahmed’s captaincy was called “brainless” by former pacer Shoaib Akhtar, while Malik, who was out for a first-ball duck in the game, found himself in the eye of a storm after videos of a night-out with Indian tennis star wife Sania Mirza went viral on social media.

‘Saaho’ teaser: Prabhas, Shraddha promise thrilling ride

The visuals in the teaser of the Prabhas and Shraddha Kapoor-starrer “Saaho“, which was released on Thursday, take viewers on an exhilarating ride featuring high-octane action on a scale not seen in Indian cinema often.

The teaser opens with a shot of Shraddha saying that she has nobody to share her happiness or sorrow. Prabhas replies that he is there for her. From here on, the teaser is full of quickly edited shots that tease us with the scale of action used in the film.

From performing bike stunts and chasing enemies and beating them to the ground, Prabhas looks wrathful in the action avatar.

But if you thought “Saaho” is all about Prabhas, you’re wrong. The teaser features a beautiful shot where we see Prabhas and Shraddha form a tag team and fight.

The teaser, which has been released in four languages, promotes “Saaho” as India’s biggest action thriller film and going by the visuals, one can’t doubt what the makers have set out to deliver.

5 cops suspended after 3-year-old girl’s mutilated body found in Aligarh

Five policemen, including an SHO, have been suspended for alleged negligence, five days after the mutilated body of a three-year-old girl was found in a garbage dump in Aligarh in Uttar Pradesh, triggering a huge public outcry over the brutality of the murder.

The policemen were suspended for alleged delay in registering the case after the girl was reported missing, and also for delaying the probe which eventually led to the discovery of her body on June 2, officials said.

Tappal police station officials registered the case on May 31, a day after she had gone missing. Two suspects have been arrested and police say the case is a fallout of a monetary dispute.

The accused Zahid and Aslam have confessed to killing the girl after her father failed to return Rs 12,000 he had borrowed from them, police sources said.

Asked about the suspension of police officials, Senior Superintendent of Police Akash Kulhari told PTI that it was done on Thursday on the basis of the inquiry conducted by circle officer Pankaj Srivastva.

The girl’s father, Banwarilal Sharma, had threatened to fast unto death, demanding the arrest of the accused’s family members who, he said, “colluded” in the crime. The SSP met him and persuaded him against sitting on fast.

Cricket legend Tendulkar to make his debut as on-air expert in ICC CWC 2019

Cricket legend Sachin Tendulkarwill make his debut as an on-air expert in the ICC ODI World Cup, starting Thursday in the United Kingdom.

The Master Blaster will take his place in the commentary box ahead of the tournament opener between hosts England and South Africa.

Tendulkar joins an illustrious panel of experts in the pre-show on Star Sports. He will have his own segment ‘Sachin Opens Again’.

The 46-year-old, who has represented India in six World Cups, holds the record for scoring the highest number of runs in a single edition of the World Cup, scoring 673 in 2003.

India opens its campaign on June 5 against South Africa.
