Realme XT review: Impresses with camera, comes close to be a game changer

Realme has been on a launching spree, especially in the budget and midrange smartphone category. Last month, it launched Realme 5 and Realme 5 Pro with quad cameras. It’s new product is called Realme XT, which has has the first 64MP camera in smartphones.

Here is our review of the device:

Design: Realme has shed polycarbonate back for a glass body (Corning Gorilla Glass 5) to improve its looks and avoid fingerprints, too. The quad camera setup sits on the left and a metal frame around it highlights it well. The phone features a 6.4-inch full-screen AMOLED display with 16-megapixel camera housed under dew-drop notch. The bezels on the sides are minimal but the bottom bezel is slightly thick. There is an in-display optical fingerprint scanner.

The speaker grille, USB-C port, microphone and headphone jack sits on the bottom. The SIM tray and the volume buttons are on the left while the right of the phone has the power button. The buttons are accessible to fingers and make one-handed operation a bit easy.

Women with PTSD more likely to develop ovarian cancer, suggests study

Women Cancer

Women who exhibit many classic symptoms of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) may be much more likely to develop ovarian cancer than their counterparts who don’t, a new study suggests.

For the study, researchers asked women to identify the most stressful event of their lives and report whether they experienced seven different symptoms of PTSD. Women who suffered from six or seven PTSD symptoms were more than twice as likely to develop ovarian cancer as women who didn’t report any of these symptoms, the study found.

“We hypothesise that stress hormones directly affect cancer cells that may be in the body, causing them to grow faster and become more invasive,” said Andrea Roberts, lead author of the study and a research scientist at the Harvard T H Chan School of Public Health in Boston.

“It is also possible that chronic stress interferes with the body’s ability to kill cancer cells,” Roberts said by email. Read Complete Article

A dog owner more likely to smoke, yet have better heart health: Study

No one can say if it’s the walks or the unconditional love, but there’s something about owning a dog that goes hand in hand with better heart health, suggests a study in eastern Europe. Researchers examined more than 1,700 adults in the Czech Republic and found that dog owners tended to be younger, female and more likely to smoke than people with different pets or with no companion animals. Yet the dog owners were also more active, had better levels of blood fat and blood sugar, and were less likely to be obese, giving them an overall better cardiovascular health profile than the rest.

“If you’re thinking about getting a pet, getting a dog will likely help you with your cardiovascular health goals. This should be a point that will help you make that decision,” said Jose Medina-Inojosa of the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, the study’s senior author.

Dog owners are known to engage in more physical activity and are more likely to have regular exercise habits than those without dogs, the study authors note in Mayo Clinic Proceedings. These benefits were recognised in a 2013 statement from the American Heart Association (AHA) that linked owning a pet, especially a dog, with lower risk of heart disease. Read Complete Article

You can’t miss Vidya Balan’s first look as maths whiz Shakuntala Devi

Vidya Balan shared the teaser of her upcoming film ‘Shakuntala Devi – Human Computer’ on Monday and it is certainly tough to spot a difference between the actor’s on-screen character and the maths wizard’s real self!

The 32-second-teaser showed the ‘Dirty Picture’ actor donning a red sari with a bob hair cut and a bindi, similar to how Shakuntala carries herself. The video defined several characteristics of her character as ‘sharp, arrogant, eccentric, ruthless, witty, and outspoken.’

“She was extraordinary, in every sense of the word! Know the story of the child prodigy & the human-computer,” Vidya captioned the teaser.

Apart from the video, the actor also shared the poster of the film on her Instagram page.

In the poster, Vidya is seen standing on number 1 position while the number 2 and 3 positions are taken by a computer and a calculator, a reflection of the mathematician’s prowess. Read Complete Article

Wings Infinity bluetooth earphones review: Budget-friendly, clean sound

Wings Infinity neckband is a complete package in the Bluetooth earphones space. It’s not just the looks, the earphones pack a clear sound output with non-intrusive bass.

The earbuds are tiny in size and that makes them ideal for everyday use. The alloy body gives the earbuds elegant look and helps them sit in the ear comfortably even during light to moderate activities. The magnets on the earbuds keep them stick to each other when not in use yet still hanging around the neck.

The wires on both ends are long enough, but what I liked the most apart from sound quality was the wires connecting earbuds to the band can be adjusted using the loops on both sides. It gives the flexibility to shorten the length of the wires as per choice, something not common in neckbands.

The earphones have dedicated buttons for volume and playback. The metal buttons on the matte finish are easy to locate even without having to look at the panel. The inclusion of Siri or Google Assistant support is a welcome feature and adds to the value.

Amazfit GTR review: Stylish smartwatch with classic look, long battery life

With its brown hybrid leather strap and round dial, Amazfit GTR looks more like an elegant, classic analog watch than sportswear, which I loved. Should you prefer a sportswear look, changing the watch face helps. The straps are easily detachable. The watch has a premium build with a stainless steel casing, and is comfortable, light, and rather slim for a smartwatch. The screen is a 1.39-inch AMOLED display with 454×454 pixels resolution protected by Gorilla Glass 3 panel. The 326ppi pixel density means the display is colourful and vibrant and you should have no problem even in bright daylight. To turn on the screen, just tap on it or lift your wrist. All in all, you get a responsive touchscreen display.Amazfit GTR

FEATURES AND PERFORMANCES

The watch can detect and keep track of up to 12 exercise modes, including outdoor running, treadmill, walking, outdoor cycling, indoor cycling, open water swimming, pool swimming, elliptical trainer, climbing, trail running, skiing, and regular workout exercises. It has an optical heart-rate sensor for continuous heart rate measurement, I found the readings convincing.Amazfit GTR

You get your phone notifications, reminders, incoming calls (with the option of putting them on silent mode or rejecting them), alarm, music control, and built-in compass directly in the watch.

For a detailed analysis of the stats, you need to download the Amazfit app. The watch is compatible with both IoS and Android devices. It has a built-in GPS. The watch also has a sleep tracking feature so you can get insights on the quality of your sleep which is condensed into something called sleep score. The heart rate sensor seems to work fine, but the GPS was slightly off at times, especially in terms of tracking my runs. Hopefully, further updates will fix that. The step counter seems accurate too.

Introduced in July, the Infinity Dining programme allowed Zomato’s Gold subscribers to order unlimited food and drinks at a set price from the menu of partner restaurants for a limited period of time.

The programme was launched in three cities with over 300 restaurants.

The National Restaurant Association of India (NRAI) said it a was “huge victory” for them.“Infinity was the tipping point of the logout campaign. On the occasion of Anant Chaturdashi, the day which marks the culmination of 10-day-long Ganesha festival, Bollywood Badshah Shah Rukh Khan along with his family members bid their beloved Ganpati Bappa adieu in an affectionate manner.

The actor took to twitter to share the pictures of a small Ganpati idol with a sweet message for his fans.
