Google Pixel 4a with 5.8-inch display unveiled: India launch, specs, & more

Google has unveiled Pixel 4a smartphone and it is coming to India as Flipkart-exclusive in October. Successor to the Pixel 3a, the Pixel 4a is a trimmed down version of the technology giant’s Pixel 4 smartphone, which was announced late last year but did not come to India due to regulations around its ‘Soli Radar’ feature.

Google Pixel 4a price in India and availability details

The Google Pixel 4A comes in 6GB RAM + 128GB internal storage variant, priced at $349. It will initially be available for pre-order in the US and goes on sale from August 20. In India, however, the phone will be available in October, exclusively on home-grown e-commerce platform Flipkart. The Google Pixel 4a India pricing will be unveiled closer to its launch.

Unlike the Pixel 3a-series, which was launched in two variants of different screen sizes, the Pixel 4a comes in lone 5.8-inch screen. However, the phone has different models for different countries. There is a 5G model, which will be limited to markets with active 5G network status. In India, however, the phone will come with LTE connectivity. Except for the connectivity, most other features are same across the 5G and non-5G models.

Experts develop new risk tool for cardiac arrest patients, reveals Study

In a breakthrough study, experts have developed a risk score to predict cardiac arrest patient outcomes.

The study published today in European Heart Journal, by a team of researchers from King’s College London and King’s College Hospital, details a novel risk score for heart attack centres to predict brain damage in patients who have had an out of hospital cardiac arrest.

Out of hospital cardiac arrest is a major public health challenge and can lead to considerable morbidity and mortality. Patients have an extremely high risk of long-term brain damage after cardiac arrest, but this can be difficult to predict early on after admission.

The risk score, known as MIRACLE2, has been developed to help clinical decisions, improve the selection of appropriate treatments and inform family discussion early after admission.

Google supercomputer, Nvidia GPUs break AI performance records

Google said it has built the worlds fastest machine learning (ML) training supercomputer that broke AI performance records in six out of eight industry-leading MLPerf benchmarks.

Using this supercomputer, as well as the latest Tensor Processing Unit (TPU) chip, Google has set new performance records.

“We achieved these results with ML model implementations in TensorFlow, JAX and Lingvo. Four of the eight models were trained from scratch in under 30 seconds,” Naveen Kumar from Google AI said in a statement on Wednesday.

To put that in perspective, it took more than three weeks to train one of these models on the most advanced hardware accelerator available in 2015.

Google’s latest TPU supercomputer can train the same model almost five orders of magnitude faster just five years later. Read Complete Article

Samsung Galaxy M31s with sAMOLED screen, 64MP quad-camera launched in India

Expanding its millennial-centric M-series smartphone line-up, Samsung on Thursday launched the Galaxy M31s in India. The phone brings several first features to M-series, including 64-megapixel camera sensor on the back and 25W fast charging. The phone comes in 6GB RAM + 128GB internal storage and 8GB RAM + 128GB internal storage configurations, priced at Rs 19,499 and Rs 21,499, respectively. The Galaxy M31s will be available at Amazon India, Samsung online store and select retail stores from August 6.

The Samsung Galaxy M31s has a 6.5-inch super AMOLED screen of fullHD+ resolution protected by Gorilla Glass. It is an Infinity-O display with punch-hole on the top-centre for front camera. The phone has plastic body with reflective gradient design on the back cover. The phone comes in mirage blue and mirage black colours.

 Powering the smartphone is an Exynos 9611 system-on-chip, paired with 128GB internal storage and up to 8GB RAM. The phone ships with Android 10 operating system covered under company’s OneUI 2.1 user-interface. The phone is powered by 6,000 mAh battery, supported by 25W fast charger. The phone supports reverse charging and its charger has USB type-C on both ends.

Thomson launches Android-certified Path 9A, Path 9R and Oath Pro smart TVs

The new range of Thomson smart TVs include models from Path 9A, Path 9R and Oath Pro series with price starting at Rs 10,999. Sushant told ex-girlfriend he was ‘unhappy’, Rhea ‘harassed’ him: Report

Actress Ankita Lokhande, ex-girlfriend of Sushant Singh Rajput, had reportedly informed Bihar Police that the late actor was quite unhappy because Rhea Chakraborty harassed him.

Ankita made her claim while she was visiting Sushant’s family in Patna, a report in news18.com stated. According to the website, Ankita told the police that through a chat around the time of release of her Bollywood debut film, “Manikarnika: The Queen Of Jhansi” in 2019, Sushant mentioned being “harassed” by his then current girlfriend Rhea.

A report in dnaindia.com corroborated the news saying a source had informed the website that, according to Ankita, Sushant had told her that “he is quite unhappy in the relationship and wants to end it as Rhea harassed him”.
